A person's lifestyle, listening environments, age, type and degree of hearing loss, and personal preference are some of the factors that help determine the appropriate hearing aid. Below you will find a brief description of the different types of technology available, as well as the different sizes. Keep in mind that each different size can be equipped with any of the different technologies. The the varieties are many can can seem overwhelming. Behind-the-Ear (BTE) - This type of hearing aid is made to fit behind the ear and is attached to a mold that is individually customized to fit your ear. BTE hearing aids are designed for a wide variety of people, including severe to profound hearing losses, individuals with dexterity problems, and children. BTE hearing aids also come in many different colors to match your skin, hair, and bright colors for kids. They may be connected to external sound sources such as assistive listening devices (directional technology, FM systems, CROS/BI-CROSS hearing devices) and televisions. |

In-the-Ear (ITE) - This type of hearing aid is custom made to sit flush with your outer ear and yet still is easy to manipulate. It can fit a wide variety of hearing losses including severe losses. ITE hearing aids also come in skin colors and can also be equipped with directional technology. |

In-the-Canal (ITC) - This type of hearing aid is small enough to fit into your ear canal. It is used for less severe hearing losses. ITC hearing aids are also matched to skin color. |

Completely-in-the Canal (CIC) - This is the smallest hearing instrument available today. It is best used for mild to moderate hearing losses. It fits snugly into your ear canal with a tiny filament that is used to remove the instrument. the faceplate of the CIC instrument is made to match skin color. This hearing aid is appropriate for individuals with good dexterity due to the size of the hearing aid and hearing aid batteries. |
Various Types of Hearing Aids
Conventional - This is a basic type of hearing aid which takes all sounds and makes them louder. Various controls can be added that can adjust the hearing aid. These controls are set by the audiologist.
Programmable - Programmable hearing aids are set by the audiologist using a computer. Your hearing test is used as a guide to set and adjust your hearing aid to meet your individual needs. After using your hearing aids in different environments (ie, at home, listening to the television, at work, etc.) during your trial period they can then can be readjusted if you have any problems hearing and understanding with them. Even after you have had them for a few years, they can still be adjusted or made stronger if your hearing changes. The cost of this type of hearing aid may be the same or slightly more than non-programmable products.
Digital - Digital hearing aids are programmable
hearing aids with fully digital processing. This means that they have all
the advantages of a programmable hearing aid and all the benefits of digital
processing. With digital processing, a much clearer, crisper signal is
presented to your ear to enhance speech understanding. They also include
multiple channels for more precise frequency shaping and loudness
compensation. Dual-microphone directional technology and digital
processing for noise reduction and voice activity detection are some of the more
advanced characteristics of digital hearing aids. All these enhancements
work together to provide the optimum signal to your ears to help you hear and
understand speech better.

We sell Ray-o-vac and Duracell hearing aid batteries for $3.75 per 4-pack everyday. We sell sizes 5, 10, 312, 13, & 675.
During our battery sale in May & November we sell Duracell batteries for $2.25 per 4-pack and Ray-o-vac batteries for $2.75 per 4-pack. Limit 6 packs per person. You can call us at (901) 682-1529 and we will mail them to you for only 70¢.
